You Wont Believe Where These Fat Barra Are & It Aint North Of Sydney

Now when you typically see a pic of a fat Barra ( Barramundi) you immediately start thinking – Top End of Oz – sweaty croc infested estuaries n lakes but not this one – think further south – like way way south. Fisheries Victoria late last month posted the pic of a chunky 6kg (13 pound) barra in Lake Hazelwood that locally is also known as Hazelwood Pondage – a man-made water storage pond designed to cool the adjacent power station. They also noted that growth rates were as good as up north!

Fisheries authorities confirmed on their Facebook page today that fishing regulations for the barra are still being developed and will be announced soon as the pond is not yet open to fishing.
